DIY Animal Print Pumpkin

  • DIY Animal Print Pumpkin

I had so much fun painting and crafting on white pumpkins recently. I wanted to add a modern take on traditional fall decor in my house.  Taking a traditional chinoiserie, plaid or animal print and applying it on a pumpkin creates a unique accessory to sprinkle into your seasonal decor.  I can’t wait to show you how easy it was to create this Leopard print pumpkin!

I gathered my supplies:

Fresh, white pumpkin

Navy blue, acrylic paint

White, acrylic paint

Paint brushes– used mostly small to medium brushes for this pumpkin

I pulled up some leopard print fabric images from the Internet for inspiration and to give me a guide as I made the marks on the pumpkin.

First, I made 3 small marks of navy blue and then individual larger brush strokes of navy blue.

Next, I mixed the navy paint with the white paint to create a light blue for the center of the spots.  Let the navy paint dry for a few minutes and then add the light blue centers.

There is no wrong or right here.  Just play around and use fast, light brush strokes to get a natural, organic looking spot.

This animal print pumpkin is a fun addition to any fall vignette.  For a more traditional animal print, use black for the navy and gold for the light blue.  This little pumpkin is  simple way to add a little whimsy to your decor!
